The closest town to the château is the town of Compiegne, which is located only 45 minutes from Paris and 30 minutes from Charles De Gaulle International Airport.

Chateau de Rethondes dates back to the 17th century and is a stunning property that has been meticulously and magnificently restored to provide a luxury hotel of 54 elegant rooms in a stunning and peaceful setting in 47 acres.

The restoration of the château has been sympathetic, preserving many of the original features and providing it with a wealth of character.

The area was favoured by Louis XIV and Napoleon, as it is the second largest forest in France and still maintains a plentiful amount of wildlife, including wild boar and deer.

The Palace of Compiegne is now a museum of Art and History and the links to the château are evident today, with the dining room walls boasting original 18th century paintings of tapestries by the famous artist Jean-Baptiste Oudry. The château is also located within 800 metres of the location of the signing of the Armistice in 1918.
